Biography
FAIRVIEW, NC Becky was born and raised in Philadelphia. She earned her undergraduate degree at Vassar College in Drama with a minor in French. Her M.A. is in Elementary Educational Counseling from Villanova University. Becky worked seven years for the Philadelphia School System as a counselor and taught theater for 10 years at a classical Christian school in NC.
Becky has been a Chautauqua scholar since 2003 when she first presented Pauli Murray. Her other characters are Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, and Josephine Baker. All were premiered at the Greenville SC Chautauqua Festival.
Becky also performs as a storyteller at festivals, libraries, and schools – specializing in African-American history and stories, world stories, and audience participation stories and songs.
She has lived in Fairview, just outside of Asheville, N.C., for the last 40 years. She and her husband, Pat, have 4 grown children who keep providing lovely grandchildren who enjoy visiting their country grandparents (us!)as often as possible. Becky is a volunteer in her church and several community non-profits. She also enjoys performing in stage plays when time allows.
